Alem Bunna
Kazanchis · Addis Ababa
Alem Bunna at the Kazanchis terminus is one of Addis Ababa''s most frequented traditional buna houses, where the full Ethiopian coffee ceremony is performed from green-bean roasting through to the third pour called bereka. The ritual unfolds on a carpet of fresh grass with incense burning and small porcelain cups arranged on a low tray. There are no menus, no filters, and no specialty tasting notes, only the ancient practice of communal coffee preparation that Ethiopia gave to the world. It is the kind of place regulars return to every morning for decades.
