Cafeoteca occupies a thoughtfully restored 1950s International-Style house in Barrio Escalante, just 50 meters east of Parque de Francia, and stocks more than 25 single-estate micro-lots sourced directly from all eight of Costa Rica''s coffee-growing regions. Beans are roasted weekly in-house and prepared by SCA-certified baristas through a menu of V60, Chemex, AeroPress, siphon, cold brew, and the traditional chorreador. The project was founded by chef Camille Ratton and her husband Juan Ignacio Salom, who also operate the fusion restaurant Kalu next door, and all three ventures share the same lovingly renovated property. Visiting Cafeoteca is as close as San Jose gets to a full single-origin tasting experience under one roof.
