Opened in 1997 by Robert Thoresen, the 2000 World Barista Champion, Java at Ullevålsveien 47 is one of Oslo's founding third-wave institutions and a daily ritual for St. Hanshaugen regulars. Black filter coffee roasted at the Kaffa roastery dominates the order board, with seasonal espresso and hand brews rounding out the menu. The small, unfussy space near the park retains the warm, craft-first energy that helped define Oslo's specialty coffee identity.
