Scaturchio
Centro Storico · Naples
Giovanni Scaturchio opened this pasticceria on Piazza San Domenico Maggiore at the turn of the twentieth century, and it remains a landmark for both pastry and espresso in the heart of the historic district. The sfogliatella and the ministeriale chocolate cake are city treasures, and the espresso served alongside them is textbook Neapolitan: dark, bittersweet, with cream rising to the surface. The piazza setting, shaded by the church of San Domenico, is one of the most beautiful coffee stops in southern Italy.
