Cafe Madras

Established in 1940 at Bhaudaji Road in Matunga East, Cafe Madras is one of the oldest continuously operating South Indian filter coffee institutions in Mumbai, now managed by the third generation of its founding family. The kaapi is served thick and dark with warm milk on the side in the old-school Madrasi style, made from their own proprietary coffee powder blend sold in-store since 2016. Alongside the coffee, the kitchen serves fluffy idlis with ghee, crispy dosas with mulagapodi, and the kind of no-frills hospitality that eight decades of operation naturally produces.
