Fong Da Coffee (蜂大咖啡) has stood at the Chengdu Road edge of Ximending since 1956, making it one of Taipei's oldest surviving coffee institutions. The shop roasts its own beans on-site and serves them primarily through siphon brewing, alongside old-school Taiwanese pastries that have changed little in decades. The room is tight, loud, and perpetually busy with regulars who make no concessions to the cafe-hopping crowd.
