Employee-owned Sputnik Coffee was founded in 2017 by brothers Vova and Greesha Kagan with the conviction that great specialty coffee should be delicious and affordable without pretension. Operating from Chicago's historic Back of the Yards neighborhood, the shop roasts on-site in a 2,000-square-foot cafe where a white La Marzocco and red Mazzer grinders are visible through a 25-foot glass wall. Time Out Chicago named Sputnik the best coffee shop in the city, reflecting an unusual combination of genuine quality and neighborhood accessibility.
